The course teaches court leaders and managers how to collect, understand, and use data to guide decision-making. Participants will also improve their skills in communicating effectively with court leaders about how their court’s data can be used to improve court performance.
The course makes the link between practical tools for measuring court performance, such as CourTools, and other resources that explain why it is important to measure performance. Those other resources are the purposes and responsibilities of courts, the principles of caseflow management, and the High Performance Court Framework, including court culture, the HPC Quality Cycle, and the principles of efficiency, effectiveness, productivity, and procedural fairness.

As a result of completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify tools that can be used to measure and manage performance, including CourTools
- Collect, evaluate, and analyze court data
- Use measures to assess performance as related to performance targets, such as time standards
