This course is designed as a self-paced learning experience and the information contained in the course is broken into short, discreet segments to accommodate online learning. You will find that each unit contains a video segment accompanying the Powerpoint presentation and a quiz addressing lesson unit competencies. There are various resources provided for each unit that include suggested readings, critical questions to consider and video clips. Below are some guidelines that may be helpful.


Successful completion of the course entitles you to receive an NDCI certificate of completion including 13 hours of continuing education hours. In order to receive a certificate for course completion you must do the following:

  • Complete and submit all course quizzes.
  • Have an aggregate score of 75% for all of the lesson unit quizzes (unlimited attempts are permitted).
  • Complete and submit the "Certificate of Completion" form.

This course is collaboration between the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice and the National Drug Court Institute (NDCI)-the Professional Services Branch of the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP).
